Pretreatment equipment refers to the different types of appliances that help you clean off all the grit, oils, sand and other debris that are stuck to the products you want to powder coat. Adding proper pretreatment increases the lifespan of your finish and cuts down on production errors, making your work more valuable and your operation more productive.
Why Pretreatment Is Important
If you want your coating to last, you need to clean your product thoroughly before the powder is ever applied. Even on a part that looks clean, oils and other residue you can’t see will cause your powder to flake and become brittle.
Not only does proper pretreatment produce a higher quality cure, it also saves you a ton of time and money down the road. Any time you produce a faulty cure, you must strip the powder and start over or completely discard the part. Take the extra time to make certain the debris, grime, and oil has been removed and watch your quality and your productivity increase – all by adding pretreatment.
Blast Rooms and Blasting Stations
A blast room is specialized enclosure to safely sandblast or shotblast an item. If you or your customer’s products are covered in rust, old paint, old powder, scaling and other debris that cannot be removed by hand-wiping or washing, you’ll need to add blasting to your operation. Even on clean parts, a light sandblasting application scores the surface and provides better powder adhesion.
Our blast rooms come in a variety of sizes and configurations to keep your prep area safe and secure from the rest of your shop. Media reclamation units are available to help save on materials cost. Find out more here.
Wash Stations and Wash Units
If your parts are covered in fine dust or machine oil, then consider adding wash to your pretreatment. Apply a single or multi-stage wash to your parts for improved finish durability.
A wash station refers to a room or other enclosure where your parts are washed via either manual or automatic spray. A wash unit usually refers to a manual unit that is moved around a part that has been placed in a freestanding station.
Along with our blast rooms, we carry a wide selection of both wash stations and wash units that are fully integrated with our line of powder coating and industrial paint equipment for either batch or automated applications. Let us know how we can help your business grow!
