Booth Construction

Our booths utilize bolt-together construction via pre-punched holes
This assures the ruggedness and airtightness of the booth once it is assembled. Screw-together booths are notorious for not being sturdy, sealing poorly and requiring extensive field modification for good panel to panel fitment. Our booths use a 5” center-to-center hole pattern for extra snug panel fitment—the best in the industry. We include hardened fasteners such as premium 5/16” flange nuts and flange head bolts.

Our full-size booths utilize panels of 10” to 30” width
This increases the rigidity of the booth once it is assembled. Some booths are noted for their very wide (32” to 48”) wall and/or ceiling panels. These large panels cost less to manufacture, but can result in a structure that is significantly less rigid and much more difficult to assemble. Our full-size booths use narrower panels to assure extra-rigid construction, ease of assembly and reduced likelihood of panel damage during handling.

Our booths are built of 18 gauge or thicker prime U. S. G-90 galvanized steel
There has been an influx of sheet metal from overseas that is not true G-90 or that is thinner than true 18 gauge. There is also a surge in the use of “second” quality metal stock. Similarly, some manufacturers choose to use aluminized or painted stock of inferior quality. Although much cheaper to use, this stock will not be as durable and moisture resistant as true G-90 American steel stock.

Our interior ceiling height is the same at any point within our booths
“Pyramid,” “A-frame” or “hip roof” booths have dramatically less room inside, particularly when working near the walls. They also often have the lights mounted at an angle so that they cast shadows on the work space when an operator is in the booth. An added problem is that their airflow patterns are often compromised. “Flat ceiling” or “square roof” booths have more interior volume and require more airflow to meet codes (due to their larger interior dimensions), but yield much better results. Our booths are all flat ceiling designs.

It’s easy to get confused by specifications that fail to define the difference between exterior and interior dimensions--or that don’t mention the intrusion of a filtered rear or side plenum. All of our product listings include exact interior dimensions of the clear space inside the booth.

Booth Airflow

Our booth airflow is calculated at a realistic static pressure of 1” or greater
The most common complaint people have with economy booths is that they don’t work well once the filters start to get dirty. Static pressure is a term used to describe the load that a fan system must overcome while moving air. It is measured in inches (such as 2” s.p. or 2” w.g.). Airflow is a term that is often used to describe the volume of air that is being moved. It is measured in CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute). Some manufacturers rate the airflow in their booths at very low static pressures in order to make the CFM number higher—looks great on paper and terrible in real life. You need to have at least .75” to 1” of static pressure figured into the equation just to compensate for CLEAN filters. We use realistic numbers when we rate our fans. Our booths work great even after the filters are no longer clean.

Our most popular booths have semi-vertical airflow that keeps powder overspray near the ground
Some booths tend to stir up the spent powder, especially when the filters are clean. This is because some manufacturers use wet paint-derived designs to save money. We design our booths specifically to contain particulate matter instead of paint overspray. Rather than strap extra filters onto a wet paint booth and pull heavy airborne material upwards into filters mounted well off the floor, we extract air near the floor of our powder application booths. By exerting force on the particles as they fall, our equipment effectively contains overspray without excessively clogging the filters.

Our exhausts are up to 40% quieter because we use larger and/or more rigid fans
We often reduce the fan RPM rate using an optimized drive ratio or a variable frequency drive (VFD) device—the airflow remains appropriate and the noice level is significantly lower. These systems are excellent for noise-sensitive applications and most booth companies do not provide this option.
